SOME GUIDANCE NOTES TO HELP GET YOU TO INTERVIEW
Some DOs and DON'Ts
DO: Try to keep it to 2 pages
DON'T: use the first person
DO: state clearly what you do
DON'T: just regurgitate your Job Description.
DO: HIGHLIGHT your achievements
DON'T:
use hyperbole; be honest.
DO: Review your CV regularly and
adjust it as your career develops.
DON'T: just add your current job to
an old CV.
DO: ALWAYS CHECK THOROUGHLY
DON'T: make it too short!
THE KEY POINTS
- KEEP to 2 PAGES if possible; if its too long it may not be read - avoid repetition
- STICK TO FACTS: don't embellish, lie, or leave
things out. Beware of using hyperbole. - Use BULLETS and BOLD to highlight key points -
avoid fancy fonts. White space helps focus attention - DOUBLE CHECK facts, spelling, dates and tenses.
- Always REWRITE when you update for another job; NEVER just add on to you old version.
